Description
Create a memorable handprint turkey plate with your child for Thanksgiving. This fun and easy craft captures their handprint and adds a festive touch to your holiday décor.
Ingredients
- White ceramic plate
- Non-toxic acrylic paints (brown, red, yellow, orange)
- Paintbrushes (various sizes)
- Palette or paper plate for mixing colors
- Towels or wet wipes for easy clean-up
- Oven (for curing paint, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Your Workspace: Lay down newspapers or a plastic tablecloth to protect the surface. Gather all your materials close by.
- Paint the Plate Base: Use a large paintbrush to coat the plate with a base layer of white paint. Allow it to dry completely before proceeding.
- Handprint Turkey Creation: Use brown paint to cover your child’s hand. Press their hand firmly onto the center of the plate, fingers spread. Lift gently to avoid smudging.
- Adding Details: After the handprint dries, use smaller brushes to add the turkey’s features: Red paint for the wattle, yellow paint for the beak, and colorful accents for feathers.
- Final Touches: Add any additional decorations with a fine-tipped brush. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly.
- Curing (Optional): Place the plate in an oven on a low setting (approximately 350°F) for 30 minutes to set the paint.
Notes
Customize colors with metallic or glitter paints. Hand wash the plate carefully to preserve artwork.
