Description
A fun and engaging DIY project to create beautiful suncatchers that reflect sunlight and bring color into your home.
Ingredients
- Clear plastic or acrylic sheet (or wax paper)
- Liquid school glue or clear drying craft glue
- Food coloring or liquid watercolor paints
- Small paintbrush or dropper
- Scissors (if needed for cutting shapes)
- Craft knife (for adult supervision)
- Optional: Glitter, beads, or other embellishments
Instructions
- Prepare Your Work Area: Lay down newspaper or an old cloth to catch any spills. Gather all your materials within reach.
- Create Your Base: Cut your clear plastic or wax paper into your desired shape (circle, heart, etc.). Lay the base flat on the work surface.
- Mix Your Colors: In a small container, mix glue with a few drops of food coloring or watercolor. Experiment with different colors!
- Apply the Glue Mixture: Using a paintbrush or dropper, apply the glue mixture onto the base. Spread it around or create swirls and patterns for visual interest. Add glitter or embellishments if desired for extra sparkle.
- Let It Dry: Allow the suncatcher to dry completely. This may take several hours or overnight. Make sure it’s in a flat area to prevent any drips.
- Display Your Suncatcher: Once dry, peel it off if using wax paper or lift it carefully from the surface. Hang it in a window where sunlight can hit it for the best effect!
