Create beautiful crystal snowflakes using simple materials. This fun and educational craft is perfect for all ages and adds a touch of magic to your winter décor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of boiling water
  • 3 tablespoons of borax
  • Pipe cleaners (white or any color)
  • String or thread
  • A glass jar or cup
  • Pencil or stick (to suspend the snowflake)
  • Optional: Food coloring, glitter, or sparkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare your pipe cleaners by twisting them into snowflake shapes.
  2. Set up the suspension by tying a piece of string around the center of your snowflake and attaching the other end to a pencil or stick.
  3. Make the solution by pouring 1 cup of boiling water into a glass jar and adding 3 tablespoons of borax, stirring until dissolved.
  4. Submerge your snowflake in the solution, ensuring it’s fully submerged.
  5. Leave the jar undisturbed for several hours or overnight to see the crystals form.
  6. Once the desired formation is achieved, remove the snowflake and let it dry on a paper towel.

Notes

Customize your snowflakes with food coloring or glitter for extra charm. Use thicker pipe cleaners for larger snowflakes.
