Description

A fun and easy craft to create beautiful crystal snowflakes using simple materials.

Ingredients

  • Pipe cleaners (white or any color)
  • Borax laundry detergent
  • Water
  • A glass jar or bowl (heatproof)
  • A stirring stick
  • String
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Shape Your Snowflakes: Take three pipe cleaners and twist them together to form a snowflake shape.
  2. Prepare the Solution: Boil about 2 cups of water, pour it into your heatproof glass jar, and add 3 tablespoons of Borax, stirring until dissolved.
  3. Attach and Submerge: Tie string to the snowflake shape and suspend it in the Borax solution without touching the jar’s bottom.
  4. Let it Crystallize: Let the jar sit for 6-12 hours or overnight to allow the crystals to form.
  5. Remove and Dry: After crystallization, carefully rinse the snowflake under warm water and set it on a paper towel to dry.

Notes

For a vibrant effect, dip the pipe cleaners in food coloring before forming, or add glitter to the snowflake while it’s still wet.
