Description
A fun and educational project for creating vibrant crystals at home using simple materials.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup of hot water
- 3 cups of sugar (or salt for different types of crystals)
- Food coloring (various colors)
- A clean glass jar or container
- A stirring stick or spoon
- A piece of string or a skewer
- A small weight (like a marble) to keep the string submerged
- Optional: small bowl for mixing colors
Instructions
- In a glass jar, mix 1 cup of hot water with 3 cups of sugar (or salt). Stir until all the sugar is dissolved.
- Add a few drops of food coloring to your solution and mix gently.
- Take a piece of string and attach a small weight to the end. Submerge the weight in the solution, ensuring the string doesn’t touch the bottom.
- Place your jar in a quiet area and cover it loosely with a cloth. Let it sit undisturbed for several days.
- After 3-7 days, check your crystals. Once they reach your desired size, carefully remove them from the solution and rinse gently with water.
