- 2 cups of water
- 2 cups of sugar
- Food coloring (various colors)
- A heat-resistant container (like a glass jar)
- Baking sheet
- Aluminum foil or wax paper
- Spoon for stirring
- Optional: Epsom salt or Borax for different crystal textures
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine 2 cups of water with 2 cups of sugar.
- Gently heat the mixture while stirring, allowing the sugar to dissolve completely.
- Add a few drops of your favorite food coloring to create a colorful solution.
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or wax paper.
- Pour the sugar solution into your heat-resistant containers, filling them about three-quarters full.
- Allow the containers to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Once cooled, place the containers on the baking sheet in an area where they won’t be disturbed.
- Let them sit undisturbed for 24 to 48 hours to grow your crystals.
- After 48 hours, carefully remove the geodes from their containers.
- Gently break apart any hardened formations to reveal beautiful and colorful crystals inside.
- Admire your handiwork and let them dry completely.
Notes
Experiment with different food coloring combinations for various hues. Try using glitter or embellishments after drying for added charm.
