Description

A fun and educational activity to explore crystallization using Borax, suitable for all ages.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of Borax
  • 3 cups of water
  • A heat-resistant container (glass jar or bowl)
  • A spoon for stirring
  • A string or wooden stick
  • Optional: food coloring
  • A pot for heating water
  • A stove for boiling

Instructions

  1. Boil 3 cups of water in a pot on the stove.
  2. Gradually add 1 cup of Borax, stirring continuously until fully dissolved.
  3. Pour the solution into your heat-resistant container.
  4. If desired, mix in food coloring and stir gently.
  5. Tie a string to a wooden stick, ensuring it hangs into the solution.
  6. Place the stick in the center of the container and leave it undisturbed.
  7. Watch the crystals grow over the next few hours or days.
  8. Once ready, carefully remove the string and allow the crystals to dry on a paper towel.
