Description
Transform old crayons into colorful suncatchers that brighten up any window with this simple DIY craft.
Ingredients
- Blue crayons (broken or whole)
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Oven
- Cookie cutters (optional)
- Scissors (for cutting parchment paper)
- String (for hanging)
- Hole punch (optional)
Instructions
- Sort your blue crayons and remove the paper wrappers.
- Break the crayons into small pieces (about 1-inch segments).
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) for gentle melting.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking. If using cookie cutters, place them on the parchment paper.
- Fill the cookie cutters or arrange the crayon pieces in small clusters on the baking sheet.
- Carefully place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 5-15 minutes, watching closely as the crayons melt into a liquid state.
- Once melted, remove the baking sheet from the oven (use oven mitts) and allow the melted crayon to cool slightly before handling.
- If using cookie cutters, let the melted crayon cool completely before removing.
- Use a hole punch to create a hole at the top of the suncatcher (if desired) and thread a string through the hole for hanging.
- Hang your colorful suncatcher in a sunny window and enjoy the vibrant colors coming through!
