Description

Transform a plain t-shirt into a unique work of art using bleach and creative designs.

Ingredients

  • Plain cotton t-shirt (dark color works best)
  • Liquid bleach (regular household bleach)
  • Spray bottle or squeeze bottle
  • Stencils or rubber bands
  • Cardboard or plastic sheets (to insert)
  • Gloves
  • Mask (optional, for fumes)
  • Water (for dilution)
  • Old newspaper or towels (for workspace protection)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by laying down old newspapers or towels to protect surfaces.
  2. Decide on a design using stencils or twisting and binding sections with rubber bands.
  3. Dilute bleach by mixing it with water in a spray or squeeze bottle (1:1 ratio is common).
  4. Test a small area of fabric to see how it reacts to bleach.
  5. Apply bleach to the shirt using the spray or squeeze bottle over your stencil or bound areas.
  6. Allow the bleach to develop for 5-15 minutes, monitoring closely.
  7. Rinse the shirt thoroughly in cold water to stop the bleaching process.
  8. Lay the t-shirt flat to dry completely before wearing or washing again.

Notes

Customize designs with different stencils or concentrations of bleach for varying effects. Use different fabrics after testing.
