Description
Transform a plain t-shirt into a unique work of art using bleach and creative designs.
Ingredients
- Plain cotton t-shirt (dark color works best)
- Liquid bleach (regular household bleach)
- Spray bottle or squeeze bottle
- Stencils or rubber bands
- Cardboard or plastic sheets (to insert)
- Gloves
- Mask (optional, for fumes)
- Water (for dilution)
- Old newspaper or towels (for workspace protection)
Instructions
- Prepare your workspace by laying down old newspapers or towels to protect surfaces.
- Decide on a design using stencils or twisting and binding sections with rubber bands.
- Dilute bleach by mixing it with water in a spray or squeeze bottle (1:1 ratio is common).
- Test a small area of fabric to see how it reacts to bleach.
- Apply bleach to the shirt using the spray or squeeze bottle over your stencil or bound areas.
- Allow the bleach to develop for 5-15 minutes, monitoring closely.
- Rinse the shirt thoroughly in cold water to stop the bleaching process.
- Lay the t-shirt flat to dry completely before wearing or washing again.
Notes
Customize designs with different stencils or concentrations of bleach for varying effects. Use different fabrics after testing.
