Description

Create delightful ice ornaments filled with birdseed to feed and attract birds during winter.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups birdseed mix (preferably with nuts and fruits)
  • 2 packets unflavored gelatin
  • 1 cup water
  • Cookie cutters or silicone molds
  • Twine or string (optional)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Optional: dried fruits, cranberries, or nuts for decoration

Instructions

  1. Choose your molds: Select cookie cutters or silicone molds for your ornaments.
  2. Prepare your workspace: Cover surfaces with newspaper or a plastic sheet for easy cleanup.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of water with the gelatin and stir until dissolved.
  4. Gradually stir in 3 cups of birdseed until the mixture is well-coated.
  5. Press the birdseed mix firmly into the molds and add optional ingredients if desired.
  6. To create hanging loops, insert twine vertically into each mold.
  7. Freeze for several hours until completely solid.
  8. Carefully remove ornaments from the molds and hang them outside on tree branches or hooks.
