Description

Create colorful birdseed ice ornaments to nourish birds and beautify your winter garden.

Ingredients

  • Birdseed (your choice of mix)
  • Water
  • Silicone molds (or cookie cutters)
  • String or twine for hanging
  • Optional: Fresh fruit, nuts, or edible flowers for decoration

Instructions

  1. Prepare your molds by placing silicone molds or cookie cutters on a baking sheet.
  2. Mix birdseed with water in a bowl, using a 1:1 ratio until the mixture is moistened but not soupy.
  3. Add optional ingredients like fresh fruit, nuts, or edible flowers for decoration.
  4. Fill the molds with the birdseed mixture, pressing down firmly to eliminate air pockets.
  5. Insert a piece of string or twine into the center of each mold for hanging.
  6. Place filled molds in the freezer for at least 24 hours until solid.
  7. Once frozen, pop the ornaments out of the molds and hang them from trees or shrubs.

Notes

Use cookie cutters in festive shapes for added fun. Experiment with different seed blends to attract various birds.
