Description
Create your own bird feeder using everyday materials to attract local birds and connect with nature.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 empty plastic bottle (e.g., soda or water bottle)
- 2 wooden dowels or sturdy skewers
- Birdseed (store-bought or homemade)
- Small drill or sharp object for creating holes
- Scissors
- String or wire for hanging
- Optional: paint or decorations for personalizing
Instructions
- Rinse the bottle thoroughly to ensure it’s clean.
- Use scissors to cut a few small holes on opposite sides of the bottle for the dowels.
- Push one dowel through a hole until it protrudes out the other side, serving as a perch for the birds.
- Repeat with the second dowel, positioning it above the first for comfort.
- Create several small holes in the bottom of the bottle to allow for drainage.
- Carefully pour birdseed into the top of the bottle until it is about halfway full.
- Create a hole in the bottle cap using a drill or sharp object. Thread string or wire through the hole and tie a knot for secure hanging.
- Find a suitable spot in your garden or balcony and hang your feeder. Enjoy watching the birds flock to it!
Notes
Consider decorating the bottle and experimenting with different seeds to attract various types of birds.
