Description

A fun and eco-friendly project to create vibrant suncatchers using simple kitchen ingredients.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Wax paper or parchment paper
  • Optional: leaves or flower petals for added design

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of vinegar, 1 tablespoon of corn syrup, and 1/4 cup of cornstarch. Stir the mixture over medium heat until it thickens.
  2. Divide the thickened mixture into separate bowls and add food coloring to each bowl, mixing thoroughly.
  3. Lay out a sheet of wax paper on a flat surface, spoon colored mixture onto the paper, and spread into shapes or designs.
  4. Allow the suncatchers to dry for 24-48 hours until they feel firm yet pliable.
  5. Peel the suncatchers off the paper carefully and hang them in a window to enjoy the colorful play of light.

Notes

Experiment with natural dyes and different shapes for unique designs. Adult supervision is recommended for mixing and heating.
