Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, mix 1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, and 1 teaspoon of glycerin.
- Stir Well: Use a whisk or spoon to blend the ingredients into a smooth mixture.
- Heat on Stove: Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir continuously.
- Watch for Thickening: As the mixture heats, keep stirring until it reaches a gel-like consistency (about 2-3 minutes).
- Remove from Heat: Once thickened, remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool slightly.
- Add Color: Mix in a few drops of food coloring until you achieve your desired shade.
- Prepare Workspace: Lay out a sheet of wax paper on a flat surface.
- Pour Mixture into Molds: Carefully pour the colored bioplastic into suncatcher molds or use cookie cutters on the wax paper.
- Smooth Out: Use a paintbrush or spatula to smooth out the mixture evenly in the molds.
- Let Dry: Allow the suncatchers to air dry for 24-48 hours until completely hardened.
- Remove from Molds: Once dry, gently peel the suncatchers away from the wax paper or remove from molds.
Notes
Experiment with different mold shapes and natural dyes for a unique touch. Suncatchers are best displayed indoors to prolong their lifespan.
