Description

Create vibrant and eco-friendly bioplastic suncatchers that bring color and creativity to your space while being kind to the planet.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • Food coloring (assorted colors)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Cookie cutters or shape molds
  • String or yarn (optional, for hanging)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Clear a large surface area to work on. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix the Bioplastic: In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of cornstarch, and 2 tablespoons of corn syrup. Stir until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
  3. Add Color: Divide the mixture into smaller bowls if using multiple colors. Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and mix until you achieve your desired shades.
  4. Shape Your Suncatchers: Using cookie cutters, scoop shapes from the mixture and place them on the parchment paper.
  5. Dry the Suncatchers: Place the baking sheet in a cool, dry area for 24-48 hours until the bioplastic hardens.
  6. Finishing Touches: Once dry, gently remove the suncatchers from the parchment paper. If desired, make a small hole at the top and string a piece of yarn for hanging.

Notes

Customize colors and shapes to create unique designs. Avoid moisture for durability.
