Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- Food coloring (assorted colors)
- Mixing bowl
- Spoon
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Cookie cutters or shape molds
- String or yarn (optional, for hanging)
Instructions
- Prepare Your Workspace: Clear a large surface area to work on. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Mix the Bioplastic: In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of cornstarch, and 2 tablespoons of corn syrup. Stir until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
- Add Color: Divide the mixture into smaller bowls if using multiple colors. Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and mix until you achieve your desired shades.
- Shape Your Suncatchers: Using cookie cutters, scoop shapes from the mixture and place them on the parchment paper.
- Dry the Suncatchers: Place the baking sheet in a cool, dry area for 24-48 hours until the bioplastic hardens.
- Finishing Touches: Once dry, gently remove the suncatchers from the parchment paper. If desired, make a small hole at the top and string a piece of yarn for hanging.
