Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Baking sheet or silicone mat
  • Wax paper or parchment paper
  • Cookie cutters (optional)
  • Paintbrush (optional for adding details)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of corn syrup, and 1 cup of cornstarch. Stir over medium heat until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
  2. Remove the mixture from heat. Divide into separate bowls for each color and add food coloring.
  3. Preheat your oven to 175°F (80°C). Spread the colored mixtures onto a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
  4. Place the baking sheet in the oven and allow the suncatchers to dry for 2-3 hours until completely hard.
  5. Hang your suncatchers in windows using string or suction cups to enjoy the colorful light displays!

Notes

Experiment with shapes and colors. Try using natural dyes for coloring or adding biodegradable glitter for a magical touch.
