Description

Create beautiful and eco-friendly bioplastic suncatchers that brighten your space with vibrant colors. Perfect for all ages!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon of vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of corn oil
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Wax paper
  • Cooking spray
  • Cookie cutters (optional)
  • Paintbrush (for applying color)
  • Scissors
  • Baking tray

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mixture: In a bowl, mix cornstarch, vinegar, and corn oil until well combined. Stir in food coloring to achieve desired hue.
  2. Cook the Mixture: Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
  3. Shape the Suncatchers: Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Drop dollops onto wax paper or use cookie cutters to create shapes. Optionally, brush on more food coloring.
  4. Dry the Mixture: Preheat oven to 175°F (80°C) and bake for 15-25 minutes until hardened.
  5. Cut and Display: Cool completely, peel off wax paper, and trim edges if needed. Hang in a sunny window to enjoy the light display.

Notes

Customize shapes, add textures with leaves or glitter, and experiment with natural dyes. Safe for children with adult supervision.
