Description

Create beautiful and eco-friendly bioplastic suncatchers using simple household materials. This engaging craft is perfect for all ages and promotes sustainability.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons corn oil
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Wax paper
  • Cookie cutters
  • Rolling pin
  • Oven or a heat source for drying
  • Paintbrush (optional, for applying color)
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine cornstarch, vinegar, and corn oil. Stir over low heat until thick and sticky. Add food coloring to desired color and mix.
  2. Lay wax paper on your work surface. Pour bioplastic onto it and use a rolling pin to flatten to 1/4 inch thick. Cut shapes with cookie cutters.
  3. Carefully peel shapes off the wax paper and place on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Preheat oven to 175°F (80°C) and bake for 30 minutes until dried.
  4. Allow suncatchers to cool completely. Optionally apply additional colors with a paintbrush and cut holes for hanging.

Notes

Experiment with natural dyes and add glitter for unique touches. Store in a cool, dry place to extend longevity.
