Description

Create your own eco-friendly suncatchers using bioplastics for a fun, engaging, and sustainable craft project.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 tablespoons of corn syrup
  • 2 teaspoons of cornstarch
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Wax paper or plastic wrap
  • Craft shapes (cookie cutters or molds)
  • Small brush or sponge (optional for spreading)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of corn syrup, and 2 teaspoons of cornstarch. Stir well over medium heat until the mixture thickens.
  2. Remove from heat and divide the mixture into different bowls. Add food coloring to each bowl and mix until well blended.
  3. Line a baking sheet with wax paper or plastic wrap. Pour spoonfuls of the colored mixture onto the baking sheet, spreading them into desired shapes.
  4. Allow the suncatchers to dry for 24-48 hours until fully hardened.
  5. Cut out the shaped suncatchers and hang them in your windows to catch the sunlight.

Notes

Experiment with different natural binders like gelatin for varied textures and try using silicone molds for different designs.
