Description

Create stunning, eco-friendly suncatchers using simple kitchen ingredients while teaching kids about sustainability.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup corn starch
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Saucepan
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Wax paper or silicone mat
  • Cookie cutters (optional)
  • Paintbrushes (optional, for detail work)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of corn starch with 1 cup of water.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of corn syrup to the mixture and whisk until smooth.
  3. Pour the mixture into a saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and divide the mixture for coloring.
  5. Add food coloring to achieve desired shades.
  6. Pour colored mixture onto wax paper or silicone mat in shapes or designs.
  7. Allow to dry for 24-48 hours until firm, then peel off.

Notes

Experiment with natural dyes and add glitter for extra flair. Use a clear sealant for durability.
