Description

An engaging DIY project to create beautiful bioplastic suncatchers using simple materials. Perfect for promoting sustainability and creativity!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup corn starch
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup vegetable glycerin
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Cookie cutters or molds
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Paintbrush
  • String (for hanging)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine 1 cup of corn starch and 4 cups of water. Add 1 cup of vegetable glycerin to the pot and stir continuously over medium heat until thickened.
  2. Remove from heat and add food coloring, mixing thoroughly.
  3. Spoon the thickened mixture into cookie cutters or molds placed on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, using a paintbrush to spread evenly.
  4. Allow the shapes to dry for 24-48 hours until completely firm, then gently remove from molds.
  5. Create a hole at the top of each suncatcher with a small hole punch and thread a piece of string for hanging.

Notes

Experiment with natural dyes and incorporate decorations like flower petals for unique designs. Use agar-agar for a vegan option.
