Description

Create stunning and eco-friendly bioplastic suncatchers that enhance home decor and educate about sustainability.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons of vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of corn syrup
  • Natural food coloring or water-based dye
  • Wax paper or silicone mat
  • Cookie cutters or a knife
  • Paintbrush (optional)
  • Sharp scissors (with adult supervision)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine water, cornstarch, vinegar, and corn syrup. Stir over medium heat until it thickens to a gel-like consistency, then remove from heat.
  2. Allow the mixture to cool slightly. Add natural food coloring or dye and mix well.
  3. Lay wax paper or silicone mat on a flat surface and pour a thin layer of the colored mixture. Use cookie cutters or a knife to shape the designs.
  4. Let suncatchers dry for at least 24 hours in a warm, dry area.
  5. Once dried, peel them off the wax paper or mat. Use a string or suction cup to hang in a sunny window and enjoy!

Notes

Customization options include adding glitter, using gelatin instead of cornstarch, and experimenting with shapes for seasonal themes.
