Ingredients

- 1 cup of vinegar
- 1 cup of vegetable glycerin
- 1/2 cup of water
- Pans for heating

- Dried flowers (such as pressed petals)
- Food coloring (optional)

- Cookie cutter or shape template
- String or fishing line for hanging
Instructions
- Prepare Your Work Area
- Gather all materials for easy access.
- Mix the Ingredients
- In a saucepan, combine cornstarch, vinegar, glycerin, and water.
- Stir well until blended, ensuring there are no lumps.
- Cook the Mixture
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly.
- Watch for it to thicken, resembling a gel-like consistency (about 5–10 minutes).
- Shape the Bioplastic
- Once thickened, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Pour the mixture onto the parchment paper, using a spatula to spread it evenly.
- Use cookie cutters to create desired shapes.
- Add Flowers
- While the bioplastic is still soft, gently place dried flowers onto the surface.
- Press them lightly to secure.
- Dry and Harden
- Allow the sun catchers to air dry for 24-48 hours until solid and clear.
- Carefully peel from parchment once dried.
- Add Hanging Mechanism
- Use scissors to create a small hole at the top of each sun catcher.
- Thread string or fishing line through the hole for hanging.
Notes
Experiment with different dried flowers and food coloring for varied results. Make sure to hang the sun catchers in a dry place to prolong their lifespan.
