Description

Create beautiful bioplastic sun catchers using dried flowers, combining art and sustainability in a fun crafting project.

Ingredients

  • Cornstarch (1 cup)
  • Water (1 cup)
  • Glycerin (1 tablespoon)
  • Natural dried flowers (e.g., petals, leaves)
  • Parchment paper or plastic wrap
  • Baking sheet
  • Cookie cutter (optional)
  • Acrylic paint (optional, for color effects)
  • Vegetable oil (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your materials by gathering everything in one place and lightly grease the baking sheet with vegetable oil.
  2. Create the bioplastic by combining cornstarch, water, and glycerin in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until thickened (5-10 minutes).
  3. Shape the sun catchers by spreading a thin layer of the bioplastic onto the baking sheet, using cookie cutters if desired, and pressing in dried flowers.
  4. Drying: Allow to dry completely (24-48 hours), then peel off parchment paper.
  5. Finishing touches: If desired, paint edges with acrylic paint and attach a string or suction cup for hanging.

Notes

Customize with food coloring or experiment with different dried flowers. Incorporate eco-friendly glitter for extra sparkle.
