Description

Create stunning, biodegradable star ornaments for the holidays with this engaging DIY project that’s perfect for all ages.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of cornstarch
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of glycerin
  • Food coloring (optional, for customization)
  • Star-shaped cookie cutters
  • Wax paper
  • A saucepan
  • A spoon for stirring
  • A rolling pin (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, mix together cornstarch, water, vinegar, and glycerin.
  2. Place over medium heat and stir continuously until thicken.
  3. Add food coloring if desired while stirring.
  4. Once it reaches a dough-like consistency, remove from heat and cool for 5-10 minutes.
  5. Roll out the dough between wax paper to 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Cut out star shapes with cookie cutters and transfer to wax paper.
  7. Poke holes at the top of each star with a straw for hanging.
  8. Let the ornaments dry at room temperature for 24-48 hours, flipping halfway through.
