Description

Learn how to create adorable star ornaments using eco-friendly bioplastics that brighten up your space and support sustainability.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup corn starch
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable glycerin
  • Natural food coloring (optional)
  • Cookie cutters (star shape or any desired shape)
  • Parchment paper
  • Cooking pot
  • Mixing spoon
  • Rolling pin
  • Extra decorations (e.g., glitter, beads, twine for hanging)

Instructions

  1. In a cooking pot, combine corn starch, water, vinegar, and vegetable glycerin. Stir until well-blended, ensuring there are no lumps.
  2. Place the pot over medium heat and stir continuously as the mixture thickens (about 5-10 minutes). Remove from heat when it resembles dough.
  3. Transfer the bioplastic mixture to a clean surface to cool for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Roll out the mixture to about ¼ inch thick using a rolling pin. Use cookie cutters to make star shapes.
  5. Use a straw or skewer to punch a hole at the top of each star for hanging. Add decorations while still moist.
  6. Allow the ornaments to dry completely for 24-48 hours, until hardened.

Notes

Add natural food coloring for vibrant colors or essential oils for fragrance. Use various cookie cutters for diverse designs.
