Description

Create beautiful and eco-friendly bioplastic flower suncatchers using simple materials. A fun craft for all ages that promotes sustainability and creativity.

Ingredients

  • Cornstarch (1 cup)
  • Water (2 cups)
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Cookie cutter (flower shapes)
  • Spoon or spatula
  • Paintbrush (optional)
  • Natural objects for decoration (leaves, flower petals)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of cornstarch and 2 cups of water. Mix well until there are no lumps.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring continuously until it thickens and becomes translucent.
  3. Remove from heat and separate into different bowls for different colors. Add food coloring and mix.
  4. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Use cookie cutters to cut flower shapes from the bioplastic and place them on the baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 30-60 minutes until firm but slightly flexible.
  7. Once cool, paint or decorate as desired and hang in windows using thin strings or thread.

Notes

Experiment with different natural objects for decoration or use starches like tapioca instead of cornstarch.
