Description
Create beautiful, eco-friendly decorations using simple natural materials that are fully compostable.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup salt
- Natural coloring (beet juice, turmeric, or spirulina)
- Baking tray
- Cookie cutters
- String (optional)
- Rolling pin
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour and 1/2 cup of salt. Gradually add 1/2 cup of water, mixing until it forms a smooth dough.
- Divide the dough into portions. Use natural colorings (beet juice, turmeric, spirulina) to dye each portion. Knead until the color is evenly distributed.
- Roll out the colored dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on a baking tray.
- Use a straw or pencil to poke a small hole at the top of each decoration.
- Allow the decorations to dry at room temperature for 24-48 hours until firm or bake them at 200°F (93°C) for 2-4 hours for a quicker method.
Notes
You can customize the shapes and colors for different events. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour until reaching the desired consistency.
