Description

Create beautiful, eco-friendly decorations using simple natural materials that are fully compostable.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • Natural coloring (beet juice, turmeric, or spirulina)
  • Baking tray
  • Cookie cutters
  • String (optional)
  • Rolling pin

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour and 1/2 cup of salt. Gradually add 1/2 cup of water, mixing until it forms a smooth dough.
  2. Divide the dough into portions. Use natural colorings (beet juice, turmeric, spirulina) to dye each portion. Knead until the color is evenly distributed.
  3. Roll out the colored dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on a baking tray.
  4. Use a straw or pencil to poke a small hole at the top of each decoration.
  5. Allow the decorations to dry at room temperature for 24-48 hours until firm or bake them at 200°F (93°C) for 2-4 hours for a quicker method.

Notes

You can customize the shapes and colors for different events. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour until reaching the desired consistency.
