Make fun and engaging baking soda dinosaur eggs that children can crack open to reveal hidden dinosaur figures, combining creativity with science.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups baking soda
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup water
- 2–3 tablespoons of vinegar (optional for fizzing effect)
- Small plastic dinosaur figures
- Food coloring (optional for colorful eggs)
- Mixing bowl
- Muffin tin or silicone mold
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of baking soda and 1 cup of cornstarch. Stir well until fully blended.
- If using, add 2-3 tablespoons of vinegar to the dry mixture for a fun fizzing reaction!
- Gradually add 1 cup of water to the mixture while stirring. Aim for a thick, moldable consistency—it should feel like wet sand.
- If you want colored dinosaur eggs, add a few drops of food coloring and mix until evenly distributed.
- Pack your mixture into a muffin tin or silicone mold, pressing down firmly to shape the eggs. Place a small plastic dinosaur figure in the center of each egg.
- Allow the molded eggs to dry overnight. They should harden and be easily removable from the mold.
- Once dried, carefully pop the eggs out of the molds and prepare for some excavation fun!
