Description

Whimsical Dinosaur Footprint Cookies that are fun to make and delicious to eat, perfect for themed parties and a great family activity.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (green, brown, etc. for decorating)
  • Chocolate chips or M&M’s (for ‘toes’)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  3. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a dough forms. Divide the dough into portions and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut out dinosaur footprints or shape them using your hands.
  5. Place the cutout cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Press chocolate chips or M&M’s on the tips for ‘toes.’ Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden around the edges.
  6. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Decorate with icing or additional candies if desired.

Notes

Colorful footprints can be made by adding food coloring to the dough. You can also use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version.
