A delightful mashup of fudgy brownies and chewy cookies, perfect for when you can’t decide between the two.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix melted butter, cocoa powder, sugars, one egg, and vanilla until it resembles thick chocolate lava.
  3. Stir in flour, salt, and baking powder. Set aside.
  4. In a separate bowl, cream softened butter with brown and white sugars.
  5. Add egg and vanilla, then mix again.
  6. Stir in flour, baking soda, and a pinch of salt until nearly mixed, then fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Dollop spoonfuls of both mixtures side by side in a lined 8×8 inch pan and swirl gently with a knife.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are set but the middle jiggles slightly.
  9. Let cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

Do not over-swirl the batters for the best texture. Pull them from the oven before they feel completely done for that gooey center.
