A delightful science experiment transforming rice into a dancing spectacle using baking soda and vinegar.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup uncooked white rice
- Clear glass or plastic container
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- Food coloring (optional)
- Spoon for stirring
Instructions
- Measure out 1/2 cup of uncooked white rice. Rinse the rice under cold water and drain well to remove excess starch.
- Fill the clear container about halfway with water. Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda to the water and stir until dissolved. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture.
- Carefully add the rinsed rice to the colored water.
- Slowly pour 1/4 cup of vinegar into the container.
- Observe the rice dance as bubbles form around it, causing it to float and sink.
- Enjoy the spectacle!
Notes
Experiment with different food coloring combinations and container sizes for varied effects. Supervision is recommended for young children.
