Description

A delightful science experiment transforming rice into a dancing spectacle using baking soda and vinegar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup uncooked white rice
  • Clear glass or plastic container
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Spoon for stirring

Instructions

  1. Measure out 1/2 cup of uncooked white rice. Rinse the rice under cold water and drain well to remove excess starch.
  2. Fill the clear container about halfway with water. Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda to the water and stir until dissolved. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture.
  3. Carefully add the rinsed rice to the colored water.
  4. Slowly pour 1/4 cup of vinegar into the container.
  5. Observe the rice dance as bubbles form around it, causing it to float and sink.
  6. Enjoy the spectacle!

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring combinations and container sizes for varied effects. Supervision is recommended for young children.
