Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with granulated sugar until fluffy.
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thick.
- Use a flip flop cookie cutter to cut out cookies and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Transfer the cookies to a cooling rack and let them cool completely.
- Once cooled, use royal icing to decorate your cookies in fun, bright colors.
- Use sprinkles to enhance the design, resembling straps and other fun elements.
