- 2 cups Water
- Pipe cleaners (preferably green and brown)
- A sturdy base (like a foam ball or a small pot)
- Food coloring (optional, for colored crystals)
- String (optional, for hanging)
- Jar or large glass container
Instructions
- Prepare the Pipe Cleaner Shape: Twist the pipe cleaners to form the shape of a tree and create branches by bending the ends outward.
- Create the Borax Solution: Boil 2 cups of water, then slowly add 1/2 cup of Borax while stirring until dissolved. Optional: Add food coloring.
- Assemble the Tree: Attach the tree shape to the base to stand upright and spread branches for optimal crystal growth.
- Crystal Growing: Place the tree in a jar, pour the hot Borax solution over it until submerged, leaving room at the top.
- Waiting Game: Cover the jar and let it sit undisturbed in a cool area. Watch for crystal growth over the next few hours or overnight.
Notes
Experiment with different colors and shapes for unique crystal effects. LED lights and glitter can enhance the display.
