Description
Create your own stunning crystal tree through a fun and educational crafting project that combines both science and art.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup white granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup Epsom salt (or other salt)
- Food coloring (optional)
- A small cup or container
- A small plastic or decorative base
- A stirring utensil
- A spoon or pipette
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of Epsom salt on low heat.
- Stir continuously until the salt dissolves completely, creating a saturated solution.
- If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to your mixture and stir until evenly distributed.
- Carefully pour the saturated solution into your small cup or container, leaving some space at the top.
- Insert a small twig or stick into the solution, ensuring it touches the bottom.
- Allow the setup to sit undisturbed in a cool, dry place.
- In about 24-48 hours, you will begin to see tiny crystals forming on the twig.
- Leave the tree for 3 to 5 days to allow the crystals to grow larger.
- Carefully remove the crystal tree from the solution and let it dry on a paper towel for a few minutes.
- Once dry, mount it on the small base to display as a stunning decorative piece.
