Description

Create vibrant crystal trees using borax, water, and pipe cleaners in this engaging and educational craft project.

Ingredients

  • Borax powder
  • Water
  • Pipe cleaners (various colors)
  • A glass jar or container
  • String (optional, for hanging)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • A spoon for stirring
  • A stove or heat source (for heating water)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your pipe cleaners by shaping them into a tree form, making branches and twigs for detail.
  2. Boil about 2 cups of water and carefully stir in 6 tablespoons of borax until fully dissolved. Add food coloring if desired.
  3. Attach the shaped pipe cleaner tree to a string and place it in the jar, ensuring it stands upright.
  4. Slowly fill the jar with the borax solution, completely submerging the tree.
  5. Place the jar in a quiet area and let it sit overnight; crystals will start forming within hours.
  6. After 24 hours, remove the tree from the jar, shake off excess crystals, and allow it to dry.

Notes

Experiment with different shapes and colors of pipe cleaners for unique creations. Add glitter for a sparkly effect.
