Description

A fun and educational project to grow beautiful baking soda crystals using simple materials. Perfect for kids and families!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup of Baking soda
  • 1 cup of Water
  • 1 roll of White paper towels
  • Scissors
  • Small cup or bowl (for mixing)
  • Plate or tray (for catching excess water)
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the paper towels into long strips, about 1-2 inches wide.
  2. Fold the strips accordion-style to create a tree-like shape.
  3. Mix in a small cup or bowl, 1/2 cup of baking soda with 1 cup of warm water.
  4. Stir until the baking soda is fully dissolved. Add food coloring if desired!
  5. Dip the folded paper towel strips into the baking soda solution.
  6. Remove and gently squeeze out excess liquid.
  7. Arrange the soaked paper towels in a triangular shape on your plate or tray.
  8. Leave the tree in a warm area and watch as crystals form over time.

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring for multicolored trees, or try other materials for added creativity.
