Description
Make a delightful crystal snowman using simple materials and learn about the science of crystallization while crafting.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup boiling water
- 3 tablespoons Borax powder
- 1 pipe cleaner (white or any color)
- A small container (like a glass jar)
- A piece of string or fishing line
- Optional: food coloring (for colored crystals)
- Optional: googly eyes, buttons, or small accessories for decoration
Instructions
- In a heat-proof container, carefully mix 1 cup of boiling water with 3 tablespoons of Borax powder. Stir until dissolved; the water will become cloudy.
- Shape the pipe cleaner into a snowman figure with 2-3 balls or stack segments.
- Submerge the snowman in the Borax solution, ensuring it doesn’t touch the sides or bottom. Add food coloring for colored crystals if desired.
- Set the container in a stable spot and let it sit for at least 6-8 hours for crystals to form.
- Once the time is up, carefully remove the snowman from the solution and let it drip dry.
Notes
Customize with different food colors and embellishments for a unique touch. Supervise children as Borax can be harmful if ingested.
