Description

Learn to create beautiful crystal snowflakes with this fun and educational craft that combines science and art.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup Borax
  • 2 cups hot water
  • White or blue pipe cleaners
  • String
  • Pencil or stick
  • Scissors
  • Glass jar or container

Instructions

  1. Bend the pipe cleaners into various snowflake shapes.
  2. Boil the water and mix 1/2 cup of Borax with 2 cups of hot water in a large jar until dissolved.
  3. Attach one end of the string to your snowflake and the other to a pencil or stick. Suspend the snowflake in the jar.
  4. Let the jar sit undisturbed for 6-24 hours to allow crystals to form.
  5. Remove the snowflake from the jar, pat off excess water, and let it dry completely.
