Description

A visually stunning winter treat that encapsulates the magic of winter in an edible form, featuring a unique texture and customizable flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of flavoring (vanilla, peppermint, etc.)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Glass jars for serving
  • Candy thermometer
  • Whisk
  • Cooking pot

Instructions

  1. In a cooking pot, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved. Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature.
  2. Once the mixture reaches 240°F (soft-ball stage), remove from heat and stir in flavoring and food coloring.
  3. Allow the syrup to cool in the pot for about 10-15 minutes. As it cools, it will begin to thicken. Pour into glass jars, filling them about halfway.
  4. Let the jars sit undisturbed at room temperature for several hours or overnight to form crystals.
  5. Once crystallization is complete, the Crystal Ice Storm is ready to be enjoyed!

Notes

You can customize flavors and colors, and add toppings like edible glitter or crushed candy canes.
