Description

Create enchanting crystal hearts with simple household materials; a fun craft for all ages that makes for beautiful decorations or thoughtful gifts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Epsom salt (or Borax)
  • 2 cups Water
  • A heat-safe container (like a glass jar)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • A stick or string (for hanging)
  • A small pot for boiling water
  • A spoon or stirring stick

Instructions

  1. Boil about two cups of water in a pot.
  2. Gradually add 1 cup of Epsom salt (or Borax) to the boiling water. Stir continuously until the salt is fully dissolved.
  3. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the solution and stir gently.
  4. Pour the solution into your heat-safe container and suspend a small heart shape in the middle with a stick or string.
  5. Place the container in a quiet, undisturbed location and let it sit for at least 24 hours for crystals to form.
  6. After 24 hours, remove the heart from the solution, rinse it gently with cold water, and let it dry completely.

Notes

You can customize shapes and colors, and try layering different colors for a unique effect. Store finished hearts in a dry place away from sunlight.
