Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup Borax
- 2 cups Water
- Various colors of Pipe cleaners
- 1 Wooden stick (or pencil)
- 1 clear and heat-resistant Glass jar or bowl
- Food coloring (optional)
- String (for hanging)
Instructions
- Twist several pipe cleaners together to form a tree shape. Bend the ends to create branches.
- Heat 2 cups of water in a pot until it’s hot, but not boiling. Gradually stir in 1/2 cup of Borax until fully dissolved.
- Add a few drops of food coloring to the solution for vibrant colors if desired. Stir well.
- Attach the end of the tree to the wooden stick and place across the top of the glass jar, ensuring the tree hangs down into the Borax solution.
- Set the jar in a cool, undisturbed place for several hours or overnight. Crystals will begin developing on your tree over the next few days.
Notes
Experiment with different food coloring for unique effects. Ensure the Borax is fully dissolved for best results.
