Ingredients

- 1 cup water
- 3 cups sugar (or salt for different types of crystals)
- Heat-resistant container (glass jar or bowl)
- Stirring stick or spoon
- String or thread (optional for hanging crystals)
- Food coloring (optional)
- Heat source (stove or microwave)
Instructions
- In a heat-resistant container, combine 1 cup of water and 3 cups of sugar (or salt). Heat gently until completely dissolved.
- If desired, add food coloring to the solution.
- Pour the hot solution into a clean jar, leaving space at the top. Suspend string for hanging if using.
- Place in a cool, undisturbed location and check daily as crystals form.
- After a few days to a week, carefully remove crystals and rinse with water. Allow to dry.
