Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 cups of granulated sugar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Pipe cleaners (in your choice of colors)
  • Glass jar or container
  • String or fishing line
  • A pencil or stick (for hanging)
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Take your pipe cleaners and twist them into flower shapes.
  2. In a pot, combine 1 cup of water with 2 cups of granulated sugar and heat until dissolved.
  3. Add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture (optional).
  4. Pour the hot sugar solution into your glass jar or container.
  5. Lower your flower shape into the solution using a string or fishing line.
  6. Place your jar in a cool location and leave it for 24-48 hours to allow crystallization.
  7. Once crystals have formed, carefully remove the flower, rinse in cool water, and let dry on a paper towel.
