- Plastic Easter egg halves or silicone molds
- 1 cup borax powder
- 2 cups boiling water
- Food coloring (optional)
- Spoon for mixing
- String (for hanging)
- Small dishes or bowls to hold the egg halves
Instructions
- Gather all the materials in a clean, well-lit area.
- Lay out the plastic egg halves or silicone molds in bowls.
- Boil about 2 cups of water in a kettle or pot.
- Add 1 cup of borax to the boiling water.
- Stir continuously until the borax is completely dissolved.
- If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to achieve your preferred hue.
- Carefully pour the borax solution into each egg half or mold, filling it to the brim.
- Place the filled molds on a stable surface or in the fridge to cool.
- Let your creations sit undisturbed for several hours (or overnight).
- Watch for crystals to start forming on the sides and bottom of the egg.
- Once the crystals have grown to your liking, remove the eggs from the molds.
- Rinse gently in cool water to remove excess borax.
- Dry completely, then attach a string to hang!
