Instructions
- Twist several pipe cleaners into tree shapes, being creative with varying heights and decorations.
- Boil 2 cups of water in a pot and slowly add 1 cup of Borax, stirring until completely dissolved. Optional: Add food coloring.
- Attach the twisted pipe cleaner tree to a pencil or popsicle stick to hang it in the jar and pour the Borax solution into the jar until it’s three-quarters full.
- Immerse the pipe cleaner tree into the solution, making sure it doesn’t touch the sides or bottom of the jar, and secure the pencil across the jar’s top.
- Let the jar sit undisturbed for 6-8 hours or overnight for crystals to form.
- Carefully remove the tree from the jar and let it dry on a paper towel before displaying or gifting.
Notes
Experiment with different shades of food coloring for vibrant trees and create various shapes like stars and snowflakes with pipe cleaners.
