Ingredients

  • Borax (1/2 cup)
  • Water (2 cups, boiling)
  • Pipe cleaners (various colors)
  • Pencil or stick (for suspension)
  • Glass jar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Shape the pipe cleaners into flower petals or desired shapes and twist them together to form a flower head.
  2. In a glass jar, combine 2 cups of boiling water with 1/2 cup of Borax and stir until dissolved.
  3. Add a few drops of food coloring to the solution and stir if you want colored crystals.
  4. Tie a pencil or stick to the top of your flower structure and gently lower it into the Borax solution.
  5. Leave the jar undisturbed for 6-12 hours to allow crystals to form.
  6. Carefully take the flower out and let it dry on a paper towel.

Notes
