A delightful and educational craft that combines science with creativity, allowing you to create stunning crystal flowers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons salt (table salt or Epsom salt)
  • 1 tablespoon ammonia (optional, for larger crystals)
  • 1 bowl or container (glass or plastic)
  • Pipe cleaners (in various colors)
  • Optional: Food coloring (to tint your crystals)
  • String (to hang the flowers)
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Prepare your pipe cleaners by twisting them together to form a flower shape.
  2. Create the solution by mixing 1 cup of hot water with 3 tablespoons of salt until dissolved. Add ammonia and food coloring if desired.
  3. Submerge your pipe cleaner flowers into the salt solution, ensuring they are fully immersed.
  4. Remove the flowers and hang them over the bowl using string to catch any excess solution.
  5. Wait for a few hours to a couple of days for crystals to form on your flowers.
  6. Once the crystals have formed, remove your flowers and allow them to dry completely before displaying.
