Description

Create stunning crystal flowers with borax and pipe cleaners, blending art and nature while learning about crystals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Borax
  • 2 cups Water
  • Various colors Pipe cleaners
  • Glass jar or bowl
  • Pencil or stick (for suspending flowers)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • String (for hanging)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pipe cleaners into flowers, creating petals and using one for the stem.
  2. Set up the suspension by tying the flower to the pencil or stick with string and placing it across the top of the jar.
  3. Make the crystal solution by mixing hot water with borax in a separate bowl and stirring until dissolved.
  4. Add food coloring to the solution if desired.
  5. Pour the borax solution into the jar carefully, ensuring the flower is submerged, and let it sit undisturbed for 24 to 48 hours.
  6. Remove the flower once crystals have formed, rinse under cold water, and let it dry.
