Description

Create stunning and colorful crystal flowers through a fun and educational crystallization project.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Borax
  • 3 cups Water
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Pencil or stick
  • Glass jar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Scissors
  • String (optional)
  • Small plate (for resting)

Instructions

  1. Shape the pipe cleaners into flower designs and twist them to secure.
  2. Bring water to a boil in a pot and stir in borax until fully dissolved.
  3. Add food coloring to the boiling solution if desired and stir well.
  4. Pour the hot borax solution into the glass jar and lower the flower-shaped pipe cleaner into the jar, hanging it from a pencil or stick.
  5. Allow the jar to sit undisturbed for at least 6-8 hours or overnight to enable crystal formation.
  6. Once crystals have formed, remove the flower from the jar and let it dry on a plate before displaying.

Notes
